Who we are
Legacy Life Group was founded in 2020 in Lakeland, Florida. We specialize in Medicare, life insurance, fixed annuities and hospital indemnity plans, and between us we carry more than 50 years of combined experience helping people make these decisions well.
We are independent, which means no single carrier owns our recommendations. We are appointed with multiple A-rated companies, and we put their plans side by side so the numbers, not the marketing, make the case.
How we work
First we listen. Your doctors, your prescriptions, your budget and your priorities decide the recommendation, not a quota. Then we explain your options in plain English, for as long as it takes. When you decide, we handle the paperwork and the deadlines. And after you enroll, we stay your agent: when a claim gets weird or a renewal changes, you call us, not a carrier hotline.

Steve Thornton enters the insurance business, specializing in Medicare and health coverage from day one.
As Agency Director with One Life America, Steve begins a run of four straight Agent of the Year awards, 2012 through 2015.
Legacy Life Group opens its doors in Lakeland, Florida, built on one idea: treat every client like family.
Steve co-authors Medicare Breakdown: The Alphabet Soup of Medicare, the plain-English guide we still give away free.
Legacy Life Group serves clients across 11 states, from one office in Lakeland and by phone and video everywhere else.

Founder & Agency Owner
Steve has spent more than 19 years in Medicare and health insurance. Before founding Legacy Life Group, he served as an Agency Director with One Life America, earning Agent of the Year honors four years running from 2012 to 2015. He is the author of Medicare Breakdown: The Alphabet Soup of Medicare, and he has taught Medicare 101 educational seminars across central Florida for years. When he is not working, he enjoys time with his family.
